• Support Mayor Gavin Newsom’s Sanctuary Outreach Campaign and City Policies

  WHEREAS Mayor Gavin Newsom has vowed to maintain San Francisco as a sanctuary for undocumented immigrants and has launched a “Sanctuary City Outreach Campaign” to assure all city residents that accessing city services will not make an individual vulnerable to federal immigration authorities; and
  
  WHEREAS Mayor Gavin Newsom has issued Executive Directive 07-01 “Sanctuary City Policy” that reaffirms the Mayor’s commitment that no department, agency, commission, officer or employee of the City and County of San Francisco cooperate or assist in any way with immigration enforcement or disseminate information regarding the immigration status of an individual unless required by federal law; and
  
  WHEREAS Mayor Gavin Newsom has vowed to discourage federal authorities from conducting immigration raids in San Francisco that separate families and brings fear and apprehension to immigrant communities;
  
  THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the California Democratic Party fully supports Mayor Gavin Newsom’s Sanctuary City Outreach Campaign and Sanctuary City Policy directive that brings human dignity and compassion to the issue of immigration reform and commends Mayor Gavin Newsom in his firm stand against repressive immigration policies that separate our communities;
  
  BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a copy of this resolution be transmitted to Mayor Gavin Newsom.
